Part II: Reading Comprehension
Passage One:
題21：D。題目問，當這個故事發生的時候，作者的家在哪？定位第一段最后一行”he read the German language newspaper, which was American owned and published in New York.” 故選D。
題22：C。定位文章第一段第二行”Although he was able to hold a conversation in nine languages, he was most comfortable in German.” 故選C。
題23：B。定位文章第二段倒數第二行”But my grandmother insisted, for fear that the neighbors may see him read it and think he was German.”故選B。
題24：D。定位文章第三段第三行”Now she could boast about her soldier brother…they had a loved one in the service” boast意為炫耀，以。。。為自豪，所以為選項D意思吻合。
Passage Two
題25：B。主旨題，文章開頭便點名了文章主旨”As Philadelphia grew from a small town into a city…growing agricultural hinterland.” 通讀全文發現文章也是在圍繞費城從小城鎮變為貿易中心的發展歷程。與B選項吻合。
題26：C。定位文章第四段第一句。”One of the reasons…demographic growth” demographic growth意為人口的增長，故與C選項吻合。
題27：D。根據單詞所在句子及前后問，可以推斷出地區意思最為符合意為“大農業區”；或者單詞hinterland中有一個land，根據land 可以推測D選項。
題28：B。定位單詞前一句”The fairs provided …in the city” 其中outlying意為“偏遠的，邊遠的”可以推測這些東西城里是沒有的，故選B。
Passage Three
題29：C。本題適合排除法，A選項對應文章第三段第七行”boredom or irritation”；D選項對應第三段第八行”society changes”;B選項比較隱晦，文章第三段第九行”participating in the study reflect to some degree such changes”研究參與者反應這些變化，結合上句可以推測出B。而C是縱向研究的特點但未必就是劣勢，起碼文中沒有標明。故選C。
題30：A。contingent意為“視。。。而定”，如果不知道單詞，只能根據文意推測，文章說縱向研究能否完成取決于研究者的耐心與毅力，可推斷A。
題31：A。定位文章第四段第一句。”a cross-sectional study is one in which subjects of differing ages are selected” 故選A。
題32：D。定位文章第五段第一句。”The cross-sectional research…less time-consuming” 不難選出D。
Passage Four
題33：A。主旨題。根據全文的敘述不難選出A。
題34：C。作者舉例子為了證明自己的觀點，而觀點在段首”All mammals feed their young” 故選C。
題35：D。找到句子”But not all animal parents, even those that tend their offspring…”offspring是子孫后代的意思，所以最符合的為D。
題36：D。文章第一段就提出”…most…mammals…have in common”可定位D。亦可用排除法，其余三項文中均有提及。
Passage Five
題37：D。定位文章第一段第三行”one might…as entertainment”故選D。
題38：B。定位第二段第四行”Skeptics were dismayed…when…end the debate by …in some children”此句比較長，把握住關鍵詞Skeptics關于后面那一系列的研究的情感態度是dismay（沮喪的），因此Skeptics認為那些研究夸大其詞，故選B。題39：C。定位文章第三段第一行”The alarmists say they have proved that violent media cause aggression”與選項C符合。
