李開復啟動“創新工場”

Kai-fu Lee, Google's former China chief, on Monday unveiled details of a $115m venture capital fund that aims to create five successful Chinese start-ups a year in internet and mobile internet businesses or in vast hosting services known as cloud computing.
　　谷歌(Google)前任大中華區總裁李開復(Kai-fu Lee)本周一公布了融資規模達1.15億美元的風險投資基金的具體細節。該基金計劃在互聯網及移動互聯網領域，或在廣闊的、被稱作“云計算”的主機服務領域，每年打造出5家成功的中國初創型公司。

　　Mr Lee, who last week ended a four-year tenure as president of Google's operations in China and has also worked at Microsoft, is one of the most prominent figures in the Chinese internet sector.
　　李開復上周結束了谷歌大中華區總裁的四年任期。在這之前，他還曾為微軟(Microsoft)效力。他是中國互聯網行業最著名的人物之一。

　　He runs a popular website, www.kaifulee.com, to help Chinese youths gain careers in IT and his personal blog, in which he wrote about his decision to leave Google, is widely followed.
　　李開復經營著一家頗受歡迎的網站——“開復學生網”(www.kaifulee.com)，以幫助中國的年輕人在IT業有所建樹。他的個人博客亦受到廣泛關注——他正是在博客中公布了自己將離開谷歌的決定。

　　The Innovation Works fund has attracted some high profile names as cornerstone investors, including Steve Chen, co-founder of YouTube, Foxconn, the electronics contract manufacturer, Legend Holdings, the parent of PC maker Lenovo, and WI Harper.
　　李開復的“創新工場”(Innovation Works)基金已吸引到眾多響當當的名字成為基礎投資者，其中包括YouTube聯席創始人陳士駿(Steve Chen)、電子產品代工制造商富士康(Foxconn)、個人電腦制造商聯想(Lenovo)的母公司聯想控股(Legend Holdings)、以及美國中經合集團(WI Harper)。

　　The fund intends to combine early-stage incubation and seed money – a business model that does not yet exist in China.
　　該基金旨在將初創期孵化與種子基金結合起來，中國目前尚不存在這種商業模式。

　　“This venture is unique because it tries to do much more than venture capital normally does. It attempts to develop the entrepreneurial talent which the internet industry in China still lacks,” said Edward Yu, head of Analysys, a Beijing-based internet research company.
